    Shenzhen Baoan International Airport Satellite Terminal concession planning and rent evaluation project: Q-A is commissioned by the airport to develop an innovative program to reflect Shenzhen’s high-tech city image and maximize concession value. Through unit concept planning and passenger exposure analysis, Q-A is able to present a plan that integrates cultural experience, technological immersion, social interaction into shopping, dining and services. Q-A also prepare a rent forecast based on each unit’s foot traffic, passenger exposure, percentage rent, sales forecast, per square meter sales, and myriad other factors.
    Q&A is working on concession master planning for the new Shanghai Pudong Airport satellite terminal, the largest one in the world. The project calls for theme designation, strategic plan and implementation plan of the newest flagship terminal in China. The terminal will be opened in 2019.
    Guangzhou Airport T2 Commercial Planning: Guangzhou airport is building a large terminal 2 of over 600,000 square meters, capable of handing 45 million annual passengers when it opened. Q&A is part of the team that is currently developing the concession plan for the T2. The brand new terminal calls for creative, exciting solutions for passengers' shopping and dining needs in the near future. Through our efforts, we increased commercial program size 50% at the core areas, which will bring hundreds of millions of RMB additional revenue to the airport in the coming years.
    Xiamen New Airport: a brand new terminal and ground transportation center of 1 million square meter, the new airport is to become a destination by itself. Q&A expert Yufeng Guo is currently leading the effort to integrate culture and technology into the commercial programs of the airport. When it opens in five years, it will host aquarium and ocean themed gift shops, drone remote control  for the flying public, virtual reality and augmented reality experiences, and local food street that echo those famed stalls on the Gulangyu Island. Xiamen new airport will be one of the best airports in integrating commerce, culture and technology.
    Zhengzhou Airport Commercial Advisory: Zhengzhou airport is constructing its massive terminal 2, to be opened January 1, 2016. Q&A is part of the commercial advisory team led by ICF, to assist the airport with strategies to maximize and rationalize commercial offerings. Through two years of work, we have helped the airport drastically modified the concession program into a dynamic and interesting space, with two central plazas and a variety of concepts organically placed together. We then helped the airport forecast sales and rent revenue, and assisted with outreach and selection of operators.
    Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport: hometown of Jack Ma’s Alibaba, Hangzhou airport is experiencing rapid growth and modernization. We are helping the airport to update its concession program to include the latest technology offerings in concession, while still keeping the “local feel”, with shops offering silk clothing, tea and other local specialties.
    Fuzhou Changle International Airport Expansion Concession Planning: the challenge of the expansion is construction during on-going operation. We are developing a concession plan that will enable passengers to experience authentic Fuzhou local food and culture, with tea, ceramic, silk, ship-building as representative themes of the concession program.
    Q&A CEO Yufeng Guo and Branding Director Zequn Cai delivered a day-long training course for Zhejiang Province Airport Group. The training offered hands-on experience for 40 airport leaders from 8 airports to compose a concession program for an terminal, and real-world case studies of how airports can improve its retail and catering images amongst passengers. The participants gave excellent review of the training class.
    Guangzhou Airport Brands Portfolio Development Services: Q&A Consulting is now developing one-of-its-kind brands portfolio for Baiyun Airport. This Portfolio will be the gold standard when it comes to selecting the right brands that match the airport environment and fulfill passengers’ desires. Famous and popular retail, food and beverage brands will form the backbone of future Guangzhou airport concession programs in the coming years.     GAMECO Beijing New Airport Market Study: Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Corporation (GAMECO) is evaluating its strategic positioning at the Beijing new airport, with the relocation of China Southern Airlines from Beijing Capital International Airport to the new airport. The new airport will be opened in 2019, and GAMECO is presented a historic opportunity to expand into northern China, and serve many more foreign carriers for third party business. Q&A experts presented a 200+ page report with in-depth analysis of the business outlook, and the benefits of hub and MRO center colocation.

    SMS Training: Q & A delivered a hands-on SMS Practitioners class to a broad array of students from India through Rajiv Gandhi University in New Delhi. Students included Regulators, SMS Practitioners from large legacy carriers, low cost airlines, airports, and helicopter operators.
    Pilot and crew recruitment for Chinese airlines: Due to rapid growth in the aviation transportation sector, Chinese airlines are in great need for pilots, especially captains.     Airbus Corporate Jet Aftermarket Survey: Airbus Corporate Jet retained ICF to conduct a survey of Chinese operators to compare its aftermarket services to major large cabin, long range business jet OEMs, to enhance AOG support responsiveness and VIP Pass Package offerings.
    Aircraft investment assistance for CMBL: China Merchants Bank Leasing is planning on purchasing commercial transport aircrafts from Boeing or Airbus for operating lease. As the first time direct order from OEMs, the lessor retained the ICF team to assist with industry forecast, aircraft comparison, spec selection, and negotiation support with the OEMs. Q&A experts was on the ICF team to provide project support.
    CAAC General Aviation Policy Support Project: In the past 4 years, Mr. Guo of Q&A has been part of the project team in the US-China Aviation Cooperation Program that provides support to the CAAC's Transportation Department and Flight Standards Department on general aviation policies and regulations. Funded by US Trade and Development Agency, the project assists CAAC in low altitude airspace reform, flight service station, fixed base operation, commuter operation, helicopter, seaplanes, general aviation inspector training, ADS-B, and other areas.

    Air China Fleet Planning Methodology and Training: Air China Planning Department hired ICF to provide world class fleet planning methodology, financial modeling and training to assist the airline to enhance decision making capabilities in purchasing, leasing, and aircraft retirement decisions.
    China Southern aircraft interior product training: China Southern Airlines hired ICF to train the newly established product and service department, to improve overall passenger experience. ICF provided insights to CZ's 40 staffs regarding interior design, seat products, and life cycle cost of cabin interior.
    GAMECO Global MRO Benchmark Analysis: GAMECO, in preparation for an annual board meeting, hired ICF to conduct a global MRO benchmark study, comparing its labor cost, shift patterns, other operational and business parameters with Lufthansa Technik and other players.
    AVIC Xi'An Aircraft MA700 Global Market Study: Xi'an Aircraft Corporation hired ICF to conduct global market study for MA700, and survey turboprop operators and lessors to gain insight of their purchasing standard and requirements, thus providing input into the aircraft design and its business strategy.
    AVIC CAIGA Primus 150 Market and Aftermarket: AVIC CAIGA is developing Primus 150, now renamed AG300. It hired ICF to provide global market study and field survey with North American executive aircraft owners, operators, FBOs, MROs, training companies, and insurers.
    AVIC GAIGA JL600 Mission Design Training: AVIC CAIGA is developing the amphibious aircraft JL600. Its design team needed help with designing aircraft and components for fire fighting and search and rescue missions. ICF assembled a global expert team to provide comprehensive training for over 60 engineers.
    AVIC Capital Global Leasing Industry Market Study:  AVIC Capital hired ICF to conduct a comprehensive review of global commercial aircraft leasing market, industry trends, and top 20 lessors business performances, to help AVIC Capital make decisions regarding investment in this space.
    El Al Tech MRO Joint Venture Due Diligence: El Al retained ICF to conduct a due diligence for a Chinese MRO provider, in preparation for a joint-venture negotiation. ICF team interviewed management, inspected hangars and workshops, and reviewed documents.
    China Development Bank Leasing Pre-buy Inspection:  CLC Corporation needs  to conduct a pre-buy inspection of aircrafts in North America, in preparation for its portfolio transaction with another lessor. As required, Q&A experts performed the work during the busy Christmas holidays.
    Michelin Chinese Airlines Buying Behavior Survey:  Michelin would like an objective survey conducted by a third party, for its market position in Asia and obtain honest feedbacks from Chinese operators regarding their buying behavior. Mr. Guo conducted the survey in person with several major Chinese airlines.
    BBA Aviation Asia Strategic Study & Recommendation:  BBA hired ICF to recommend its strategy to expand into Asia. As part of the process, Mr. Guo introduced BBA CEO to Chinese ground services, MRO, and business jet operators, drafted market situations in China for BBA's business units.
    Beijing General Aviation Corp Market Entry Strategy: BGAC is new to the general aviation business. It hired ICF to provide insight. ICF introduced 9 major GA segments, their  status in China, and recommended short and long term market entry strategies.
    Beijing New Airport Cargo Strategy and Planning: Beijing New Airport Construction HQ needed an independent view of the best positioning and forecast business of its cargo facilities. Mr. Guo led the project team to present our recommendation dramatically changed the cargo area from it originally planned location in the west to its final location in the northeast side. Client is very satisfactory of our thorough physical plan and our quantified cargo forecast.
    Birmingham Airport Air Service Promotion: Birmingham Airport has strong interest in attracting more routes to Asia. It hired ICF to make in-depth quantified airlines operation and profitability analysis, in order to attract Air China and other airlines to consider routes to and from Birmingham.
    Shanghai Pudong Airport T1 Concession Planning: Shanghai Pudong Airport hires ICF to work with East China Architectural Design Institute to improve the concession program at T1, which is being expanded. ICF provided commercial programming and concept layout for the new shopping center.
    Kunming New Airport Commercial Planning: Kunming New Airport hired ICF to provide comprehensive passenger survey, commercial planning, and concept combination, in collaboration with Beijing Institute of Architectural Design. The airport now serves 20 million annual passengers.

    Yufeng Guo

    CEO

    Yufeng Guo has been in the aviation consulting industry for over 8 years. Before founding Q&A, Mr. Guo is the Aviation China Director for ICF International, one of world's largest aviation consulting firms. Mr. Guo has worked on projects for Civil Aviation Administration of China, AVIC, GAMECO, Air China, China Southern Airlines, eight airports including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, Kunming, Dallas, Birmingham, lessors like China Development Bank Leasing (CLC), China Merchants Bank Leasing, various companies in general aviation, such as Beijing Auto's Beijing General Aviation Group, and overseas companies with a China interest, like Airbus, BBA Aviation, El Al, Michelin, etc.

     

    Yufeng Guo has extensive experiences working with both American and Chinese central and local governments, and with international companies, State-Owned Enterprises, and private firms of various natures. Finding the subject matter experts for the right project scope, providing most valuable deliverables, and managing projects and communication across different cultural and business customs is the specialty area where Mr. Guo excels.

     

    Before Mr. Guo's career in aviation consulting, he worked for the American Planning Association as a Policy Associate for the China Program, which successfully trained over 300 Chinese mayors in the US for best practices in city planning. After that, Mr. Guo worked for Leo A Daly, a large international design firm, as the China Chief Representative, developing business for architectural design for airports, offices, hotels, residential, and other types of buildings.

     

    As aviation expert, Mr. Guo was interviewed on China Central Television, and quoted in the New York Times, the Washington Post. Mr. Guo has a Master degree from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor degree from Shanghai Tongji University. He is fluent in English, Chinese Mandarin, and Cantonese.

    Sandeep Bahl

    Chief Airline Adviser

    Sandeep Bahl has over twenty years of aviation and hospitality experience, much of which has been in the Asia Pacific region. He has held key leadership roles in Sales and marketing, in-flight services and operations for a number of major carriers in India, USA, Australia, Japan, China and Hong Kong. 

     

    Till recently Sandeep was VP Asia for Air New Zealand where he was focused in driving sustainable revenue growth, optimizing organization across Asia, build channel based sales infrastructure, market development and implemented strong JV partnerships. Prior to Air New Zealand Sandeep worked for Delta Air Lines as Director for China and Hong Kong where he was instrumental in growth of Delta’s footprint, establishing strong government, industry and regulatory relationships, building partnerships with Chinese Airlines and ensuring a seamless merger of Delta and Northwest.

     

    Sandeep holds an MBA and post graduate degree from Oxford Brookes University in the UK and an undergraduate degree from Institute of Hotel Management in New Delhi India. He has also completed the China Managers Development Program at the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business in Beijing and is Member of Australian Institute of Corporate Directors.

     

    Sandeep is Chairman of the Board of Airline Representatives in China and Vice Chairman of the Aviation under world tourism city federation. Previously he was International Advisory Chairman for China for Travel Industry Association of USA and Co Chairman of the Aviation Economic Regulations Sub-Committee for the US China Aviation Program.

    Gary Weissel

    Chief Technical Adviser

    Gary Weissel is the Managing Director of Tronos Aviation Consulting. Mr. Weissel has brought with him 25 years of specialized experience in the aviation industry in asset management, program management, interiors, engineering, modifications, maintenance, certification, safety, manufacturing, market forecasting and due diligence. Throughout his career Mr. Weissel has managed over US$3bn in aviation assets, traded over 100 aircraft ranging in size from turbo props to 747’s, assisted airlines, heads of state, investment firms, lessors, charter operators, OEMs and governments with their challenges.

     

    Prior to starting Tronos Aviation Consulting, Mr. Weissel was the co-Managing Officer of ICF SH&E’s Aviation and Aerospace Practice where he led a consulting staff of over 50 consultants in 7 offices world-wide. Mr. Weissel began his career with nine years at Delta Air Lines, Inc. (“Delta”) where he held numerous engineering and managerial positions in Delta’s Technical Operations Division. His final position before leaving Delta was as the Customer Product Manager for Delta’s fleet of 550+ aircraft. Mr. Weissel’s responsibilities included design, specification, sourcing and program management of Delta’s interior product for both new OEM airframe production aircraft being delivered from the production line at Boeing including the 777-200, 767-400 and 737-800 aircraft and all aftermarket reconfigurations and modifications of Delta’s fleet including 727-200, 737-200 & -300, 757-200, 767-200 & -300, MD80, MD90, DC9, MD11 and L1011 aircraft. These aftermarket reconfigurations and modifications included such projects as changes in seat counts and seat configurations, galley upgrades and modifications and installation of new live satellite TV onto a commercial passenger aircraft. Mr. WEissel also spent two years with B/E Aerospace in their Seating Products Group.

    David Best

    Chief Business Aviation Adviser

    David Best provides expertise on FBO, airport infrastructure, and business aviation with over 16 years in the business and commercial aviation sector following a career in supply chain and marketing. He has worked extensively across USA, Asia Pacific and Europe and Africa. Within the Business Aviation industry he serves as Vice Chairman of the Asian Business Aviation Association and also sits on the Governing Board of the International Business Aviation Council, he previously sat on two committees for General Aviation and Manufacturers Association in Washington DC.

     

    David Best joined BBA Aviation in 2004 as Managing Director, Europe, Middle East and Africa for Signature Flight Support, where he managed the development of their 23 location European Fixed Base Operation (FBO) network from London, UK. During this time he both opened and acquired businesses in the UK, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland and South Africa.

     

    He was promoted to the role of Chief Commercial Officer in 2009 at the Divisional Head Office in Florida, USA where he formed the commercial team consisting of sales, marketing, revenue management and brand extension for this $1bn revenue business spanning 120 FBOs and one million business and general aviation arrivals annually. During this time he also sat on the Board of Lider Signature in Brazil.

     

    In January 2012 David assumed the position of President BBA Aviation Asia Pacific in Singapore heading up the strategic development of BBA Aviation’s FBO, commercial groundhandling, engine repair and component repair businesses in the Region. During his time in Asia he worked extensively in Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong and also evaluated businesses in Australia, Philippines and Brunei.

     

    A graduate of the University of Strathclyde earning BA (Hons) and an MBA, he has previously been a Board member of Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre and is now based out of the USA and works on projects globally.

    Bill Archer

    Chief MRO Advisor

    Bill has over 32 Years of Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance experience; including over 12 years in positions of leadership. Bill worked for Delta Airlines from 1988 to 2012, with positions from structural engineer to General Manager of Interiors and Cabin Avionics Engineering. Bill worked on A310, MD-11, MD-88 & 90, B757, B767, and other aircraft types. From 1983 to 2010, Bill was also active in military aircraft maintenance services in various positions. Bill has extensive experience in Engineering, regulatory compliance, personnel management, and training. Technical expertise in commercial aircraft interior design, development, and certification; aircraft repair design and development; configuration definition and management; systems troubleshooting; maintenance program development; and structural analysis. Bill also has broad experience in logistics plans, supply, and transportation. He is also a certified pilot.

    Alex Bangert

    Chief Airline Operations Advisor

    Captain Bangert's Aviation experience spans Over 35 Years. This includes being International Airline Captain, Senior Aviation Consultant, Senior Aviation Operations Evaluator, Aviation Safety- Accident/Incident Investigation Manager and Flight Operations and Ground Support Operations Manager. He has been involved in Regulatory/Civil Aviation Consultancy, AOC Certification and Operations Specification Development, Business Assessment and Viability Planning. He also has an experience in Leading Project Planning and Execution, Leading Cross-functional Team Projects and Development.

     

    Presently Captain Bangert is IOSA and IS-BAO Auditor. Upon his engagement numerous Global assignments included, Flight Operations Safety Assessments, Flight Operations Due Diligence, Safety Audits, IOSA Flight Operations, Cabin Operations and Dispatch Audits, SMS/Safety Department development, Flight Operations Development, AOC and Operations Specification oversight and Certification and development, Civil Aviation/Regulatory Project work to include both Civil and Airline de-blacklisting and Compliance.

Mr. Ou has collaborated with major State-owned airport planning institutes and architectural design firms and is sophisticated in airport building codes, fire codes, commercial planning and passenger services facilities design.

    Justin Lee

    Airport Commercial Planner

    Justin Lee has extensive experience in the airport commercial revenues business as a consultant and a market researcher with experience gained in Mott MacDonald Ltd and Moodie International Ltd. His experience on various airport commercial revenues consulting projects has covered airport commercial space determination and commercial revenue modelling, commercial program due diligence, airport commercial space and financial performance benchmarking.

     

    He has worked on airport commercial revenue development projects in Brazil, Greece, South Korea, the Philippines, Macau, Italy and Turkey.     Yu Wang

    MRO Advisor

    Yu Wang has 11 years of aircraft line maintenance experience for foreign airlines. His previous employers include HK Dragonair Airlines, Switzerland SR Technics and Shanghai TAECO. He has provided aircraft releasing services to renowned  airlines such as: Virgin Atlantic Airways, Swiss Airlines, Etihad Airways, Qantas and Singapore Airlines,to name a few. While with SRT, he obtained both CAAC (Civil Aircraft Maintenance Personnel License) and EASA ( European Aviation Safety Agency Aircraft Maintenance License), which is an achievement rarely seen in mainland China. He has the following endorsement on his licenses:  A330, A340-300,A340-600,A380,B787 including their related engine types.     Idalene has been in the Aviation, Hospitality and Retail industries for about 8 years with a background in Corporate Consulting. Her direct employment includes Changi Airport Group, Hainan Airlines Group in Beijing and Changi CIP Terminal FBO in the area of Corporate Strategy, Business Development, Product Development and Marketing.
